What a fun week it was, although this was (thankfully) the last round of visitors for the summer! Coleman was awesome, as always, even though he had his big 2-month checkup last Monday.
2 Month Checkup stats:
- Weight: 10#9oz (10-25% down from 25-40%, but OK according to Dr. Neis)
- Height: 23" (50% down from 75%)
- Head: 16" (90% down from 98%)
- Socialization: made awesome eye contact with Dr. Neis and held it for a good, long period. Dr. Neis was impressed!
- Vision: seems good so far. Dr. Neis commented how interesting (in a good way) it was that Coleman loved the dolphin lights (aka a "gel" image of marine life and dolphins put over the overhead florescent light)
- The one thing we're continuing to watch is his diapers as he seems to get a bit stopped up...but when it's time to become unstopped...watch out world! (he almost got Daddy at his 2nd Twins game last night when he blew out of diaper #2 (movement #3 for the afternoon) while in the Baby Bjorn. Luckily there's a "family" bathroom right by our seats, so we stripped the little man naked, cleaned him up and got on our merry way to watch the rest of the game!
- The not fun stuff: 1 oral vaccine and 4 shots :(
- He actually didn't mind the Rotavirus oral vaccine at all. Most kids HATE it and Coleman quietly sucked on the dropper (just like he does with his vitamins, AKA "nummy num")
- Polio
- HIB, otherwise known as Haemophilus Influenza B
- Pneumonia
- DTaP (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) - for our loved ones, we would LOVE for you to make sure you're up to date on your tetanus since most boosters now are the DTaP, which include pertussis, or whooping cough. Whooping cough is often fatal for young children and is easily preventable. Due to people opting out of vaccinations for their children, whooping cough has been making an unfortunate comeback. Just something to think about when you go into see the doctor the next time!
Onto the fun activities for the week!
- A fairly successful baby yoga class at Blooma on Tuesday. Ask me to show you the "Wheels on the Bus" baby massage song/baby dance.
- Grandfather (with an English accent), Grandmother and a gaggle of aunts & uncle-to-be came to visit.
- First park adventure with the Carrs - the Carrs planned and hoped for water activities on Thursday, but it was too windy so there were no rentals. Instead, we had a nice, relaxing afternoon on towels (and a giant sheet) near the volleyball courts on Lake Calhoun. It was a PERFECT day (around 83 degrees), so we spent most of the afternoon (around 4 hours) just sitting, talking, snacking on deliciousness from Whole Foods and imbibing Leinenkugel, Crispin & some John Dalys (minus the cigarette, of course). Kathy seemed to like the John Daly...leading to some more craziness that night!
- Big family dinner at Chino Latino, including BONSAI (aka sake bombs). Kathy earned some major kudos for not only drinking the small thing of beer, but drinking it very, very quickly with the rest of the kids :)
- First bus trip!! Coleman, Daddy & I took our first bus trip to the Twins game (on the 17). Coleman was a rockstar and nursed all the way home (at almost 11pm)
- Coleman's first Twins game...YES, A BASEBALL GAME!!!!!! He was a rockstar, although he gave us a curious look (concerned meets confused) when the Twins scored a homerun with subsequent fireworks (see cute picture below). To top off the big win (Twins were up 11-0 when we left), we had a quick drink with Allison & Jon at Barrio on the patio
More dress-up with Aunt Allison (and her Aunt Vik glasses)
Coleman's getting much better with his neck strengths. We may even be able to break out the baby seat in a couple of weeks!
Miriam & Marcel, all the way from Germany!
"Look, it's hands-free parenting!"
A too-dark shot of the family at the game
Coleman's look during the home-run but happiness on Daddy's chest!
Twins Game #2 (pre-blow out) & a trip to Costco!
Finally, onto the Week 10 photo shoot images:
