22 Weeks, Teething and Snow!

So my 22nd week on the planet was oodles of fun for me and not so much fun for Mommy.  You see, she goes back to what they call "the grind" on the 5th and is very, very sad about leaving me with my new teacher, Madeline.  What she doesn't understand yet is that I am going to have bundles of fun with all of my new classmates and Mommy might make some new friends, too!

Anyways, some highlights from the week:

  • Snow
  • Sitting
  • School
  • Zucchini
  • Teeth
Snow: I saw some sort of white fluffy stuff spitting from the sky last Thursday.  To me it looked like dust falling from heaven, but Mommy said it's really the opposite (and they call it "snow").  I had lots of fun watching it out the window at my play date with Dalia and Jonah!  The heaven dust didn't stay on the ground, but Dalia told me that if I just wait a couple of weeks (not sure how long that is!) that I'll get my fill of the stuff.
Snow day fun!
Sitting: WHAT THE HAPPY CLOWN?!?!  Not sure what this whole "sitting" thing is but MAN does it do something to my tummy (I think it's working my low transverse and potentially the obliques).  I reached this developmental milestone over at my playdate with the heaven dust at Dalia's.  Yes, I can sit on my own, although I get tired and tip over to the side.  Luckily, Mommy has been there to catch me.

Sitting with my hands for balance!
School: I went to visit my new school and the "yellow room" last Wednesday where I'll spend the next year of weekday, daytime hours.  Mommy is going to try and keep it to 8-5 even though they'll take me from 6:15-6!  That sounds like TOO long to be away from Mommy.  She thinks so, too.  We toured with the Center Assistant Manager and took home all of these pages Mommy had to fill out.  As soon as we walked out the doors, Mommy started acting like me.  Daddy called it crying and did exactly what they do for me when I cry...he gave Mommy some food (from Good Day Cafe).

Zucchini:  I continued expanding my foods.  This time Mommy made it for me from these long, skinny, apparently organic green things at the market.  I think it's called Zucchini...I learned that when Daddy yelled to Mommy to come help with the "Zucchini Blowout."  They weren't laughing, but I was!  I actually really, really like zucchini.  Mommy roasted it for me and then used the little choppy thing that Daddy says we don't really need (I think it's called a mini-Cuisenart).  It did the job up right!  I now eat 1 "cube" (around 2oz) of zucchini a day along with cereal.  I'm starting to master the "baby bird" move where I open my mouth as soon as I've finished the last bite.  If it makes Mommy smile, I'll keep on doing it!

Thank you Meyer and Mindy for my food cubes!

Curious...what is this yellow truck going to do?

EXCITED!!!
Ready, set...
Go!!
I'm cool with this, yo!
More Zucchini Mommy!!!
Yep...I like that!

Teeth: still happening and it's making me MAD.  I don't understand what's happening, but at least the sweet red stuff at night (Tylenol) seems to help.  Gammy said we should use Ambesol, but Mommy told her that doctors don't recommend using that any more with babies.  Gammy said Mommy is lucky to be alive with all of the stuff they used to do that's now considered "dangerous" for babies!

Anyhow, that's about it for the week.  Next week will be lots of fun with all of my costumes and stories of the fun Halloween adventures!

Lookin' cute while hitting on Giraffy...the "arm move" seems to be working!

Guess who's 21 weeks?!?

What a fun, fall week we've had!  Mommy and Daddy started out with a great dinner at the Bowens last weekend.  There was a contest with our Dinner Club to guess my birthday and birth weight.  The Bowens were the closest on BOTH (and yes, they were the only ones savvy enough to guess a birthday after my due date...I'm such a little stinker!).

Beth and Kevin are fantastic hosts.  They tested out some appetizers on Mommy and Daddy in advance of Beth hosting her neighborhood book club with all of the older ladies who live around her.  The bacon, sage and apricot dish was delicious!  In fact, Mommy made it for the Dworkins this weekend!

While the adults enjoyed a bottle of bubbly and 2 bottles of red wine, I slept in my Baby Bjorn crib while listening to Chopin.  Don't tell Mommy and Daddy but I think I may be getting sick of the preludes.  Might be time to invest in some new Chopin for bedtime!

Mommy and Daddy brought this!
It was from Grandad's cellar (thank you!!)

Daddy made his famous 3" thick Prime Ribeye
The adults ended up saving the Montelena Zin for another night

Let's see, what else happened other than dinner?  Oh, well, I made a guest appearance during the cheese and port course.  Oh well...at least I slept once I got home!

Mommy has been working on introducing some foods to try and fatten me up.  You saw last week the pictures of the rice cereal.  Well, the avocado was about as well-received.  Mommy fed it to me 4 times and I am NOT a fan.  Guess it's time to move on to the next item...probably sweet potato!  Once I start with fruit, Mommy may mix some with avocado.  Avocado is very important for a growing baby, especially a string bean like me!  Oh, I weighed in at 12#1oz this week at Amma, so I'm getting there!  Up 5oz in the past 2 weeks.

First bite of avocado

Wishing I knew the "All Done" sign already!
In other news, I'm officially teething!  Here's a picture of me chewing on my feet and sleeping with a frozen teething ring (much like what Mommy and Daddy had as babies).  The teethers tend to keep me quite entertained.  In the Costco cart, I was happy for almost 90 minutes while Mommy kept pulling out teether after teether!  Good news is that Mommy is smart and we left with the same number we entered the warehouse with!

At the end of the week, Grandfather, Grandmother and my other foreign exchange Aunt, Saskia, arrived along with Saskia's boyfriend, Sebastian.  We had a grand old time!  Mommy made yummy lasagna on Thursday night, along with a kale salad and garlic bread.  On Friday, we met for lunch at France 44 (Mommy didn't love the egg salad...she thinks she'll stick with the turkey, cranberry and brie in the future!).  I also made my first awake visit to Electric Fetus, where Mommy bought a Halloween hat and the new Mumford and Sons vinyl for Daddy.  I didn't like the funny smells in that place.  Too much "hippie" happening for me.  Friday night we gathered at Brasa for a delicious family-style dinner (and my first kiddie menu!).  Saturday morning was the family's send-off at Rustica.  Grandfather learned how to pronounce the place.  Mommy and Daddy learned that Grandfather wasn't being humourous with his "Roo-stica" pronounciation.  We're all aligned that it's "Rustica" as in the red stuff that is on the edge of Daddy's car.

How Cute!!!  Coleman's first kids menu at Brasa!

Trying out the shopping cart liner in a high chair.
Success!

Thank you, Saskia, for all of the great photos from Rustica!  I LOVE them (so does the whole family!)

The other big thing we did this week was go to the pumpkin patch!  It may have involved Mommy crying to Daddy on Sunday that he better get his school work finished (instead of watch TV) so they could take me out on the 70 degree day that was expected on Sunday.  Success!  Daddy laughed, Mommy laughed and I got dressed in my "Mummy Loves Me" onesie and jeans to go see my first pumpkins and apple orchard!

I know it's not "nice" for Mommy to post pictures of me crying, but she thought the picture on the left was pretty cute :)

And finally, onto my 5-month and 21-week pictures!  Mommy used to have giraffy there as a prop to show how big I'm getting.  He's now my buddy and I like to play with him, especially during picture time!

Tired after a long day at the pumpkin patch & orchard
But...not too tired to eat Giraffy!
Eatin' my toes...

What are you looking at?
Seriously...stop staring at me, Giraffy!
You kept staring, so I will eat you!!  Hazah!
